Patricia Freestone, 78, passed away on March 21st in Phoenix, Arizona, surrounded by her family. Born in January 1947 in Brooklyn, New York, Pat was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian Shields.
Patricia was united in marriage to Bill Freestone for 36 years until Bill’s passing in November 2010. Together, they enjoyed many years of love and adventure, particularly in retirement, when they could enjoy long-term camping. Pat and Bill would camp at Beaver Creek and Knoll Lake for weeks, creating lasting memories in the great outdoors. Pat also played in a shuffleboard league with Bill for many years, an activity that brought them joy and camaraderie.
Pat has always loved to read good books, and thanks to the many Kindles she owned, she did not have to carry all those books around anymore. Pat’s love for cooking and baking was evident to all who knew her. She passed on these cherished skills to her daughter and grandson, continuing to nurture the next generations with her culinary gifts. A few of her fondest memories are keeping her daughter from eating the fish bait red balls of fire as a child and teaching her grandson how to crawfish hunt at Beaver Creek, a time that filled her heart with happiness and connection to her family.
Patricia’s passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who loved her. She was more than just a family member. She was a guiding light, a source of unwavering support, and a constant source of love. She was a person who constantly provided care and wisdom that shaped the foundation of their family. Her strength, resilience, and kindness were steady, offering comfort to all around her. Her genuine smile always made everyone around her feel at ease. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her love and the lessons she imparted will remain with her family forever.
Patricia is survived by her daughter, Betsy Brian, grandson, Jon Brian, and his spouse, Dan Cooper. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
Rest in peace. You were a brave, strong woman, and your love will continue to resonate with all of us. Your family takes solace in knowing you are now reunited with the love of your life, Bill. You will be forever missed.
