Yvette Elaine Wilson

Yvette Elaine Wilson, affectionately known as Vette, passed away on June 26, 2024, in Cleveland, OH. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home, surrounded by family and close friends.

Yvette was born to Phillis Caldwell and Ronald Cotton on March 7, 1967, in Los Angeles, CA. She was raised in Wichita Falls, TX, by her loving mother Phillis and stepfather, Herman Caldwell along with her sisters, Micka Bobo, Laquinta Barron, and Kimberly Bobo.

In the 80s, Yvette met Maurice Wilson Sr., whom she married in1987. Yvette welcomed motherhood joyfully and birthed their oldest son, Maurice Wilson Jr., in 1988 and then their youngest son, Hunter James Wilson, in 1994. Yvette was a God-fearing mother who endeavored to raise her children to love God, family, and to have a heart for serving others.

As a God-fearing woman and devoted mother, Yvette was also an accomplished author, teacher, minister, entrepreneur, filmmaker, community advocate, and most importantly, a mother-figure and sister-friend to many. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of love, education, prayer, and service to others.

Yvette’s calling as an educator was evident to all who knew her. For over 20 years, she nurtured the minds of many people across many walks of life and within the entertainment industry. She also lived a life of a true educator, prayer warrior, and sister-friend both inside and outside of the classroom and sanctuary. Additionally, Yvette had a passion for cooking and fed the souls of many through her delicious meals and teaching during Friday night Bible study at her salon. Many were drawn to Yvette by her illuminating smile, soft laughter, and sweet, peaceful countenance that will be remembered by all that knew and loved her.

Yvette was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Cotton, and grandmother, Lillian (Turner) Bobo.

Those remaining to cherish fond memories of Yvette include husband: Maurice Sr.; sons: Maurice Jr., Hunter James; parents: Phillis and Herman Caldwell; sisters: Micka Bobo, Laquinta (Joe) Barron , and Kimberly Bobo; grandson, Maurice III; many nieces and nephews; in-laws, students, colleagues, and very dear sister-friends.

Yvette will continue to live through us and give us unbelievable strength because her connection to us has made her a part of us forever.
