William H. “Bill” Hill, Sr.

William H. “Bill” Hill, Sr., 93, of Springfield, died at 1:53 pm, Monday, February 8, 2021 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born October 19, 1927 in Springfield, to John P. and Cora Townsend Hill, Sr. He married Margaret Ann Smith on September 2, 1950 and she preceded him in death on September 2, 2011.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, and seven brothers.

Survivors include his three children, William “Bill” (Carol) Hill, Jr of Diamond Head, MS, LuAnn (Bill) Groesch of Springfield; and Brian (Dawnita) Hill of Springfield; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1947-1948 and 1950-1952. He was a member of Christ the King Church and Pillsbury Retirees Group.

He retired from Pillsbury Mills after thirty-nine years as a Panel Board Operator.

Private family services were held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.
