William George Stewig, 83, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. A celebration of William’s life will be held at a later date. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

William was born on November 10, 1940, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, the son of John and Marguerite (Willcox) Stewig. He was a graduate of Waukesha High School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. William served honorably in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. On June 15, 1968, William was united in marriage to Rita A. Hoak in Waukesha. The couple moved to the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, where he earned his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a systems engineer at Rockwell Collins until his retirement in 2006. William was a member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and enjoyed working on his physical fitness. He loved researching the stock market and teaching his grandchildren all about it. William will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

William is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Rita of Marion; daughters, Elizabeth (Joe) Hillebrand of Cornell, Wisconsin, and Nancy Stewig of Tampa, Florida; two grandchildren, Jacob and Anna Hillebrand; and brother, John W. (Richard Bradley) Stewig of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
