William Edwin Sims, a loving husband and father, passed away on April 15th, 2021 at Lake Granbury Medical Center in Granbury, Texas.William Edwin Sims, a loving husband and father, passed away on April 15th, 2021 at Lake Granbury Medical Center in Granbury, Texas.
William is survived by his wife Rhonda Sims; his brother Frank Sims; his sister Sharon Tawney; his sons Joe and William Jr. Sims; his daughters Mary, Marilyn, and Georgia Sims; his 3 extended children Andrew, Brooke, and Dillon Konyha; his 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
William E. Sims was born June 11th, 1943 in Moberly, Missouri to Olathe and Edward “Jack” Sims. He attended Moberly High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served from 1960-1980 as a parachute rigger. After his retirement on June 30th, 1980 from the US Navy, he obtained his Associates Business Degree from Tarrant County Junior College. On December 2nd, 1989 he married Rhonda Leigh Powell, and they have been married for the past 32 years. He was an avid part of his surrounding community, serving on the Arrowhead Shores Association Board and as an active member of the Hood County 4-H club. Bill’s career covered the maintenance field, and finished his career working at Top Hand Ropes in Granbury, TX.
William was a man of many names. Many knew him as Bill, Chief, Billy Ed, Husband, Dad, and Grandpa. He enjoyed spending his free time fishing, woodworking, sewing, scrolling through Facebook looking at memes, watching cat videos, telling jokes to all those who would listen, and most recently, spending time playing with his favorite crazy cat, Gizmo. He was blessed with a large and loving family, in which he raised all his children with patience, discipline, and humility. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all those who knew him.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Saturday April 24th, 2021 at the Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, Texas. Flowers, donations, and condolences may be offered at 400 Hwy 377 East. Granbury, TX 76048.
