William “Bill” Lee Meier, 69, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, at his home. In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Amvets Post 37, 16 S. 4th Street, Central City, Iowa.
William was born on September 28, 1955, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Lowell and Ilene (Adams Holden) Meier.
On May 14, 1987, William was united in marriage to Penny Lee Bird. He owned and operated Bill’s Auto in Troy Mills for 37 years. William loved to race, old Fords, and working on cars. He was a kind and gentle husband, father and friend to everyone and loved by many. William had two mottos: “Do the right thing” and “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it”. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
William is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Penny Meier of Marion; daughters, Jennifer Kinkead (Angel) Toro of Little Rock, Arkansas, Candie Meier (Brian, Sr.) Mustard of Manchester, Stacy Meier (Randy) Steinike of Winthrop, Iowa, and Melonie Meier (Vern) Coonfare of Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Joyce Meier Risdon of Elizabethton, Tennessee, Lowell, Jr. (Karen) Meier of Walker, Iowa, and Rita Meier (Jerry) Wiltsey of Walker; and his best friends, Bill Barthelmes, Kyle Rawson, and many others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Ilene Meier; stepson, Benjamin Kinkead; and brother-in-law, Jim Risdon.
