William “Bill” John Galli, 94, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on July 5, 2023, in West Des Moines, Iowa. A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Bill was born Feb. 11, 1929, to John and Anora “Ann” (Brislawn) Galli in Prairieburg, Iowa. He was married to Beverly (Fagle) until she passed away May 13, 1969. Together they had a daughter, Cindy (Galli) Heindselman, who passed away on Feb. 7, 2003. Bill married Kay Grove on Dec. 26, 1976. Kay passed away on July 5, 2022. Bill was a metalsmith in the U.S. Navy before spending his entire career with the U.S. Postal Service.

Bill was an avid bowler who played for enjoyment and competitively. He was proud to have bowled a perfect 300 game, for which he earned a ring. He also earned a ring for bowling a 299 game. Bill enjoyed gardening, and sharing his tomatoes, peppers, beans, canned pickles and beets with family, friends, and neighbors. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially his beloved Dodgers.

Everyone who was lucky enough to know Bill loved him dearly, especially his cats. They all took turns sharing the spotlight of his love, and their favorite place to sit, which was always on his lap.

Bill is survived by his stepchildren, Greg (Penny) Grove of Waukee, Iowa, and Kellie (Dan) Johnson of West Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan) Musson, Haley (Kaleb) Admire, Mazie (Matt) Stilwell and Maddie Johnson; as well as five great-grandchildren, and one on the way; brother-in-law, Ed (Katie) Mulholland; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Al) Mulholland and Colleen (John) Eggener, along with many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Kay; first wife, Beverly; daughter, Cindy; parents, John and Anora “Ann” Galli; siblings, Arlene Rutan, Trudy Foster, Robert “Bob” Galli and Francis James “Jim” Galli; and great-grandson Matthew.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Bill’s honor to: Animal Rescue League of Iowa Donations located at 5452 NE 22nd St., Des Moines, IA 50313-2528.
