William “Bill” David Meyer, 85, of Wellman, Iowa, died Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Parkview Manor in Wellman, Iowa.

Private family graveside services will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends and celebrate Bill’s life from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the Holy Trinity Parish Life Center. Memorials have been established for Iowa City Hospice or Hospice of Washington County. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Bill was born Jan. 20, 1938, in Wayland, Iowa, the son of Orval J. and Valentina “Bernadine” (Koening) Meyer. He attended school at Holy Trinity Catholic School, Kalona High School and the University of Iowa. Bill was united in marriage to Marla Jean Gerot on March 10, 1963.

Bill was a lifelong farmer in Washington County. He also worked at Skelly Gas Station, with Joe Gatto for deliveries, and worked at the University of Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Marla Meyer of Wellman, Iowa; son, Daniel (Audrey) Meyer of Walford, Iowa; daughter, Dina McFarland (Robert Pierce) of Riverside, Iowa; five grandchildren, Amber McFarland (Gavino Rocha), West Liberty, Samantha Meyer, Davenport, Tyler McFarland, Riverside, Stephanie Meyer (TJ Edmunds), Cedar Rapids, Breanna McFarland (Kirby Bender), Rock Island, Ill.; four great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Ordway of Rockford, Ill.; sister, Jane (Curt) Goke of Eden Prairie, Minn.; sister, Lois (Eric) Dalton of Rixeyville, Va.; sister, Mary (Bill) Trupiano of Battle Creek, Mich.; brother, Mike (Cheryl) Meyer of Waterloo, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Kevin McFarland; sister, Elaine Kos; brothers-in-law, Larry Jirsa, Joseph Kos and Denny Ordway.
