Willard G. “Gerald” George

Willard G. “Gerald” George, 74, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. He was born July 16, 1947, in Osceola, AR, the son of Willard J. and Betty Ruth (Danley) George.

Survivors include his dear friend, Bill James; son, Shane (Cheryl) Hoffman; sister, Linda Jean George of Machesney Park; and three brothers, Gary Leonard George of Rockford, Lonnie K. George and Allen Ray George, both of Beloit, WI.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Judith Carolyn George, Robin Ann George and Deborah Kay George.

Gerald was a US Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam era. He worked for the State of Illinois, Department of Human Services as a computer programmer and served in The Pentagon for 17 years.

Gerald belonged to Unity Church and was a member of the American Legion and VFW.

Graveside Service: 10 am, Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Pastor Christine McFarland officiating.
