Willard “Don” Turner

Willard “Don” Turner, 80, of Hendersonville passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021.

A native of Henderson County, Don was born on March 23, 1941, in Edneyville, NC to the late Willard Burton Turner and Dramer Thompson Turner. Don is also preceded in death by his son, Kenny Turner, sister, Pat Henderson (Glen), grandson, Eugene Honeycutt and cousins, Tom Turner, Katie Gordon, and Ann Lange.

Don graduated from Edneyville High School.  He served in the US Navy but spent most of his career working as a farmer and truck driver.  He was also a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mills River, NC.

Don enjoyed Saturday breakfast at the Mustang Café, and he also enjoyed lending a helping hand to whomever needed it.  Don loved his 20 years of camping with friends at Holly Cove.  When he wasn’t camping and spending time with friends, he was gardening.  Don was also a lifetime member of the VFW.

Don is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sally Pope Turner; daughters, Pam Honeycutt (Melvin) and Tonya Banks of Edneyville, NC;  step-daughters, Laurie Plemmons (Rick) of Mills River and Bobbie Simpson of Asheville, NC;  grandchildren, Kyle Honeycutt, Jerred Honeycutt (Shrilla), Eddie Riggins (Arrion), Erica Sarmiento (Michael), and Anthony Banks; step-grandchildren, Kevin Plemmons (Victoria), Katie Babb (David), Jonathan Simpson (Angela), and Logan Plemmons (Tiffany); great-grandchildren, Colton, Astala, Ashton, Zander, Cheyenne, Dylan, Wyatt, Callan, and Isaiah; and nephew, Wayne Henderson (Debbie).  Don is also survived by his cousins, Susan Fisher (Kenny), Nancy Stacy, Martha Gibson, David Ridings; and brother-in-law, Mike Pope (Annette).  Don will also be missed by his beloved fur babies, Charlie and Molly.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
