Wilbert Feickert, 92, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022, at Corridor Crossing Place under hospice care, where he had resided for the last year. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the chapel. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Wilbert was born on May 15, 1930, in Forbes, N.D., to Jacob and Selma Feickert. He served in the U.S. Army as a machinist during the Korean War. On Sept. 12, 1954, he was united in marriage to Lois Young in Cedar Rapids. Wilbert worked at Quaker Oats from 1950 to 1998. During retirement, Wilbert and Lois joined a camping club and spent time enjoying the outdoors, visiting relatives and traveling throughout the United States.
He is survived by a son, James (Shirley) Feickert; a grandson, Joshua; and many nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.
Wilbert was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; parents; six brothers, Emil Feickert, Theodore Feickert, Theophile Feickert, George Feickert, Herbert Feickert and Arthur Feickert; two sisters, Clara Quaschnick and Emma Hess; his parents-in-law; brothers-in-law, Keith Young and Ron Young; and sisters-in-law, Judith Bohlen and Loretta Westbrook.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Corridor Crossing Place and Essence of Life Hospice for their care of Wilbert and Lois.
