Wayne A. Olson, age 80, of Hinckley, IL passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, IL. He was born on January 12, 1941 in Aurora, IL the son of Merle and Dorothy (Mallette) Olson.
Wayne was united in marriage on August 21, 1961 in Aurora, IL to the former Dianna Berger and they spent the next 51 happy years of their lives together until her passing on February 19, 2013. He was employed for 40 years as a meat cutter by Jewel-Osco until his retirement. He enjoyed coaching, playing, and watching baseball. Wayne was also an avid woodworker. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He was survived by his children, Daniel Olson of Villa Park, IL, Kathy Olson of Arizona, and Tammy (Michael) McQueen of Hinckley, IL; his grandsons, Tyler Olson, Bailey McQueen, Noah McQueen, Lucas Olson, and Sean Olson; his brother, Jack (Jean) Olson of Texas; his sister, Joyce (Ron) Salfisberg of Naperville, IL; his sister-in-law, Barb Olson of Illinois; many nieces and nephews; as well as his favorite furry friend, Ole Lightning McQueen.
He is preceded in death by his parents Merle and Dorothy Olson; his wife, Dianna Olson; his sister, Janice Ballard; and his brother, Gerald Olson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple St., Hinckley, IL with Pastor Sejoon Jang officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hinckley, IL.
Friends may visit from 9:00 AM until the Hour of Service on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel in Hinckley, IL.
