Ward Barnett Jr.

Ward Barnett Jr. passed away May 10, 2022, at the age of 80. After several months of declining health, he passed away peacefully in his sleep at Highland Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Ward Barnett Jr. was born in Cleveland Ohio on August 13, 1941 to Ward Barnett Sr. and Gladdie E Barnett. He graduated from John Hay High School in January 1961. Later that year he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served until receiving an honorable discharge in 1966. After returning home, he attended the Griswold Institute where he became a certified electrician. Ward retired after being employed by Republic/ LTV Steel for 30 years.
Ward loved Cleveland Sports, which included the Browns, Indians/ Guardians and Cavaliers. He was often seen wearing sports apparel from his favorite team. Ward was affectionately known as “Popsie”. He enjoyed traveling, visiting casinos and spending time with family.
Ward leaves to cherish his memory his significant other Denise Primous; his two daughters Romeal (Abraham) Samuel and Andrea Harris; son Ward (Kimberly) Barnett; sister June Barnett; grandchildren Krysten, Noelle, Imani, Kweisi, Ari, Kumar, and Ward as well as great grandchildren Khyn’delle, Harper, Nina, Paxton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Ward is preceded in death by his father Ward Barnett Sr. (of Cave Springs GA), mother Gladdie E. Barnett (of Tennessee), sister Carol Davis and grandson Marques Cain.
