Wanda Carleen Campbell, 70, of Vinton, Iowa, formerly of Central City, Iowa, passed peacefully into eternity in her sleep on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab in Vinton. After many years of a brave and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, Wanda is now “out of her own little world and back into the lives of others!” A private celebration of life will be held later. Wanda will be cremated per her wishes. Inurnment will be at Mount Clark Cemetery in Central City. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Wanda was the first of four children born to Ronnie and Rosie (Davis) Campbell on April 20, 1953. She graduated from Central City High School in 1972. Out of high school she worked for several years at Rockwell Collins until being laid off. Wanda then worked several years at Mercy Hospital in the cafeteria, laundry, and housekeeping departments. Wanda’s favorite color was purple! She enjoyed bowling and was in many leagues. Wanda was an avid blood donor and was a member of the Central City United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society. Some of Wanda’s favorites were peanut butter, tater-tot casserole, orange slices and circus peanut candies. She loved to paint, play bingo, and enjoyed camping and many road trips to Texas with her mom. Wanda will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Wanda is survived and lovingly remembered by a brother, Melvin (Pam) Campbell of Ryan, Iowa; sister, Camella (John) Oellrich of Marion, Iowa; sister-in-law, Kris Campbell of Reinbeck, Iowa; five aunts; one uncle; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Creighton Campbell; great-niece, Chloe Campbell; and her beloved dog and best friend, Muffy.

Wanda’s family wishes to thank the staff at VGNR for their compassion, care, understanding, and love shown to her for the past seven years.
