Virlene Griffin Finch

Virlene Griffin Finch, 85, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022, in Granbury. She was born October 29, 1936, in Hamilton, Texas, to Virgel and Ruth Busby Sharp.
Virlene grew up in Brownfield, Texas, where she met and married Paddy Griffin. She was widowed at age 28 with two children, ages 7 and 22 months, after 10+ years of marriage, when Paddy was killed in a helicopter crash in Corpus Christi. Following his death, her work with General Services Administration brought her to the metroplex in 1968. After 30+ years of federal service, Virlene retired as the Director of the Fleet Management Division, GSA, being responsible for almost 25,000 vehicles operating in five southwestern states and Panama. She remarried in 1999 after being single for 34 years. She enjoyed traveling with her second husband and loved living near her grandchildren as they grew. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury.
Virlene was preceded in death by her first husband, the father of her children, Paddy W. Griffin in 1965, by her second husband, Truman W. “Lucky” Finch in 2010 and by her daughter, Shayron E. Griffin in 2021.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Cox and husband Paul; grandson, Garrett Cox; grandson, John Cox and wife Katelyn; granddaughter, Kate Biel and husband David; great• grandson, Griffin Biel; brother, Joe Sharp and wife Lynn; niece, Teresa Adair and husband Kent Harris.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Lakeside Baptist Church, 500 W. Bluebonnet Drive in Granbury, with a reception to follow.
