Virginia Langston

Virginia Langston entered her eternal heavenly rest on Tuesday, April 2, 2021 at the Courtyards surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 19, 1923 in Nashville, Arkansas. She died having lived 97 years and 8 months.

Mrs. Langston was a 28-year resident of Granbury. She lived in Odessa from 1947 until she moved to Granbury in 1992. In Odessa, she worked many years at the First National Bank.

She was married 73 years to Fred Langston who died in 2012. Preceding her in death were her mother Margaret Schooley, her brother James Schooley, her son Herman, her grandson Doug, and her son in law Ed Tinney.

Mrs. Langston is survived by her daughter Freddie Thorpe who is married to Jerry Thorpe, her daughter Judy Tinney and her daughter in law Beverly Langston.

She is also survived by grandchildren Alan (Manon) Thorpe of Granbury, Cheryl Thorpe of Fort Worth, Kyle Thorpe of Studio City, California, Greg (Melissa) Langston of Granbury, Sharon Langston of Granbury, Dawn (Abel) Salazar of Burleson, Karin Branton of Kilgore, Deanna Morgan of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Tammy (Craig) Ratzlaff.

 

She is also survived by 28 great grandchildren: Neki Davis, Dustin (Caroline) Davis, Jerilynn Thorpe, Ali Thorpe, Doug Langston, Andrew Langston, Desire (Nick) Hammel, Sarah (Will) Maddox, Courtney Severn, Chris Bryant, Cody (Rebecca) Gunby, Carah Gunby, Ashleigh (Jason) Rushing, Tamara Torres, Sara (Will) Kilgore, Maggie (Ethan) Walker, Dakota Morgan, Shyana Morgan, Skyler Morgan and Taylor, Chelsey, Casey, and Tatum Ratzlaff.

Mrs Langston is also survived by 15 great, great grandchildren, and 1 great, great, great grandchild.

She also has a nice, Darlene (Eugene) Arnet of Palestine, Texas, and a nephew Bill (Sharon) Schooley of Monroe, Arkansas.

Mrs Langston lived for her family. Her great joy was in family gatherings, especially at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and birthday celebrations. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be held at Holly Hills Cemetery on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 11am. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 6pm – 8pm at Wiley Funeral Home.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Courtyards at Lake Granbury leadership and staff and Envoy Hospice for their care and love to Mrs. Langston.

She will be greatly missed!
