Virginia Kuester, 85, of Watkins, IA, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024, due to the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, December 27 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Norway, with Pastor Jacob Dunne officiating. Interment will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, followed by a reception at the church.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm on Thursday, December 26 at St. Michaels. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online Condolences can be sent to neuhausfuneralservice.com.
Virginia was born on April 9, 1939, the daughter of Wilbert and Geraldine (Lefebure) Schulte. She graduated from Norway High School in 1956. She was united in marriage to Gerrold (Gabe) Kuester at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Norway on February 12, 1958.
Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her greatest joy was her family. Over the years, she enjoyed going to baseball games, playing euchre in card club, supporting her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, having coffee with her exercise buddies, and dancing as often as possible. Virginia had a wide circle of friends and was known for her kindness and humor. She always had chocolate chip cookies on hand, and was famous for her chocolate cream pies that were a hit at all family gatherings.
Virginia was a member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Ladies Alter and Rosary Society in Watkins. She was also a lifetime member of MJ Kirby Post 170 of Blairstown. She volunteered for over thirty years at Mercy Hospital and was a dedicated volunteer for the Watkins Baseball Association.
Survivors include her children, Maureen (Gary) Thompson, Kevin Kuester, Kris (Scott Owen) Kuester, Lisa Kuester, and John (Julie) Kuester; five grandchildren, Ryan (Kari) Thompson, Sara (Kyle) Kuennen, Kelsey, Karson, and Gabrielle Kuester; great-grandchildren, Arlo, Rosemary and Valerie Thompson; and Lucy, Asa and Quinn Kuennen; siblings, Nancy Cahill, Carol (Jerry) Kouba, Dan (Sally) Schulte and Victor (Sherry) Schulte. Also survived by Jerry Pollack, her special friend and dance partner of over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, William Schulte.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Woodlands and Arbor Place at the Meth-Wick Community for their loving care of Virginia.
