Virginia K. “Jenny” Meyer, 77, of Lamont, Iowa, died Saturday evening, Nov. 25, 2023, at home surrounded by her family.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at the Arlington Church of Christ in Arlington, Iowa with Rev. Scott Hall officiating. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington, Iowa, and for one hour before the service on Friday at the church. Virginia Katherine Crawford was born March 31, 1946, in Arlington, the daughter of Victor Bryan and Mary Magdalene (Scott) Crawford. She graduated from Arlington High School. On Oct. 30, 1964, she was united in marriage to John Arthur Meyer at Garden Prairie Church near Fayette, Iowa. This union was blessed with four sons: Bryan, Dale, John and Kenny. They lived in Arlington, Aurora, Quasqueton and Lamont. For many years, Jenny provided daycare at her home. She was a member of the Arlington Church of Christ and the Quasqueton American Legion Auxiliary. Jenny enjoyed her grandchildren, spending time with family, decorating for Christmas, flowers and watching and feeding the birds.
Virginia is survived by her three sons: Bryan (Audrey) Meyer of Sturgis, S.D., Dale (Lamista) Meyer of Dundee and John (Christy) Meyer of Winthrop; seven grandchildren: Alea, Jordyn, McKinley, Nolan, Zachary, Lilly and Cael; one great grandson: Mercer Anderegg; siblings: Victor Crawford of Waterloo, Mary (Walt) Scull of Tavares, Fla., Rob (Cherri) Crawford of Maynard, Shirley Crawford of Arlington, Diana (Leon) Lindsay of Owatonna, Minn., and Irene (Kent) Hamlett of Marion; brothers-in-law: Bob (Cindy) Hunt of Woodlands, Texas, and Steve (Mary) Meyer of Summerville, S.C.; sisters-in-law: Rosemary Crawford of Oelwein and Theresa Silverman of Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: John on March 29, 2007; son: Kenny; brother: Jim Crawford; sister: Barb Tate; sister-in-law: Sharon
Crawford; and brother-in-law: Robert Tate.
