Virgal L. Berryhill

Virgal L. Berryhill, 95, of Springfield (formerly of Robinson, IL) passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at his home. He was born May 9, 1925 in Kiefer, OK to Charles L. and Flossie (O’Dell) Berryhill.

Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Berryhill of Springfield and Elaine (Charles) Sampson of Mahomet, IL; one sister, Helen Feldman, of Tulsa, OK; former son-in-law, Russell Simmons of Harrisburg, IL; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife and mother of his three daughters, Betty Berryhill; and one daughter, Marilyn Ellis.

Virgal grew up in Oklahoma and retired in Robinson, IL. He worked for Marathon Oil for 46 years, ending his career as a production foreman. He enjoyed playing the fiddle in a Robinson Blue Grass Band.

Virgal was also a United States Marine Corps veteran serving during World War II, form December 1943 to February 1946 in the Pacific.

Cremation will be accorded by Staab Funeral Home – Sherman.

He was always an Okie who enjoyed a simple, good life and was always ready to help someone in need.
