Velma Sue Kyle Gilliam

Velma Sue Kyle Gilliam, 94, passed away April 6, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 12 noon until service time at Southcliff Baptist Church located at 4100 SW Loop 820 Fort Worth, Texas 76109. Service will be held at 1pm. Interment will follow at Acton Cemetery in Granbury, Texas.

Velma was born April 14, 1928 in Donley County, Texas to Chalmer Guy Kyle and Isabel Osborne. Velma married Schueler DeWitt Gilliam in 1946 in Amarillo, Texas. She loved reading, cooking, and crocheting. She worked as a nurse until she retired at 78 years old. She was a member of the Early Bird Sunday School Class at Southcliff Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Velma was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Velma is preceded in death by her husband: SD Gilliam; sons: John and Dale Gilliam; 3 sisters; 4 brothers.

Velma is survived by her son: Jim Gilliam and wife Darby; daughters: Peggy Perkins and husband Jerry, Ann Richmond and husband Wayne; grandchildren: Michael Gilliam, Josh Gilliam, Gabe Gilliam, Jordan Gilliam, John Perkins, Geoffrey Perkins, Jeremy Perkins, and their families; 19 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
