Valyda Sharron Shada, 80, of Walker, Iowa, passed away on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Private family services will be held with inurnment at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Walker, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.
Valyda was born on Oct. 20, 1942, in Austin, Minn., the daughter of Edward and Etta Valyda (Eckert) Goodew. She was a 1960 graduate of Austin High School. On July 30, 1960, she was united in marriage to Ronald Joseph Shada in Austin, Minn. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Walker. Valyda loved following and dancing with Ronald and his band. She enjoyed watching westerns but, most especially, spending time with her grandchildren. Valyda will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Valyda is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Ronda (Bruce) Huckins of Maynard, Iowa, Tamara (Bob) Huckins of Walker, David (Deanna) Shada of Center Point, Iowa, and Sharon (Michael) Lucas of Central City, Iowa; 15 grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeremy) Moore, Kelly Lucas, Matthew (Allison) Kubik, Jacob (Cassandra) Kubik, Tyler Kubik (Kris Martensen), Michaela Lucas, James Lucas, Casey and Travis Huckins, Chloe (Chris) Gibson, Mallory (Brian) Boge, Dalton Shada (Darian Steuck), Ronald (Abby) Huckins, Amber (Isaac) Junk and Joshua Huckins; and 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother, Raymond Goodew of Austin, Minn.; sister-in-law, Audrey Goodew of North Carolina; and sister-in-law, Martha Shada of Center Point, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 53 years, Ronald; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn (Edgar) Fox; brother, Carroll Goodew; and sister-in-law, Billie Goodew.
