Trula B. Mercer

Trula B. Mercer, 85, of Ashland went home to be with her Lord on March 26, 2022. Born October 11, 1936 in Virginia, she was the daughter of Ruben Ray and Lizzie Mae (Moore) Lambert.

Trula graduated from Ervington High School in Nora, Virginia in 1956. She moved to Ashland, Ohio and met the love of her life Harold “Joe” Mercer, who preceded her in death. They were married on November 2, 1957. Trula was a devoted wife, mom and grandma. She worked for Faultless Rubber and Abbott Labs, retiring in 2000. She served as a 4H advisor and Cub Scout leader when her children and grandchildren were younger. She volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center and had been a member of the former Katotawa Community Club. She was an owner and operator of the Valley View gun range where she loved to see people come and go.

Surviving are her daughters, Diana Schrader of Ashland and Cynthia Thompson of Polk; son, Harold Ray Mercer of Ashland; grandchildren, Jeremy Schrader of Red Owl, SD, Jennifer Miller of Ashland, Levi Schrader of Ashland and Olivia Thompson of Polk; great-granddaughters, Rhyannon Schrader, Haley Miller, and Ava Harle; siblings, Nina Arrington, Shirley Brummit, Farrel (Lois) Lambert and Fern Marshall; sister-in-law, Mavis Lambert; and brother-in-law, Merle Mercer.

Along with her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Allene Neece and Helen Nash; and brother, Buford Lambert.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave., Ashland, Ohio 44805. A service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 1, 2022 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Nankin Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ashland County Cancer Association or the American Heart Association.
