Thomas R. Books
Born August 7, 1931, passed away on April 30, 2021 in Hendersonville, NC. He was born in Mishawaka, Indiana as the middle child to Harold and Pauline Books. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1949, Miami University (Ohio) in 1953 and University of Detroit in 1960.
In 1990, he retired from Ford Motor Company where he held managerial positions in various accounting and finance activities at Steel Division Controllers Office, Ford of Europe Finance Staff, and Ford World Headquarters Finance Staff.
He is survived by his wife, Sara; his children Margaret (Kenneth) Voigt, Martin (Theresa) Books, and Michael (Theresa) Books; his grandchildren, Matthew (Marybeth), Sarah (Jason Ratkowski), Adam (Lindsay), Jacob (Emily Stump) and Alistair; his great-grandchildren Maxwell, Marcus, Daria, Lukas, Malachi, Jackson, Ella, and Madalyn; his step-children David (Jana) Fee and Mary (Joseph) Keller; and his step-grandchildren Matthew, Jack and Cade.
He is also survived by a sister Ruth M. Schlegel, sister-in-law Barbara Books, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Shirley A. (Hambright) and Joan W. (Carlin), and a brother Charles E. Books.
He was a member of Hendersonville Presbyterian Church and Hendersonville Country Club.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held this summer at St. Joseph Cemetery in South Bend, Indiana.
