Terry Joseph Dolan, born on July 15, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, IA, peacefully passed away on May 5, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids at the age of 70 after courageously fighting cancer for 11 years. He was surrounded by family and friends at the time of his death. He was a man of few words, known for his laid-back and easygoing nature, endeared by all who knew him.

Terry was born to Jim and Mary (Burns) Dolan on July 15, 1953. He was the 4th child out of 6 children.

Terry graduated from LaSalle High School in 1972 and still maintained very close friendships with many of his classmates. Up until his death they met once a month for lunch or dinner.

He then went on to proudly serve his country by entering the US Army from February of 1973 to February of 1976. He served during the Viet Nam era, and was stationed in Korea for 18 months, serving as a military policeman.

After his military service, he embarked on a career at Wilson Packing House, Farmstead Packing House & PMX Industries.

He married the love of his life, Tana Zeman, on October 11, 1980 in Cedar Rapids, IA. They had 43 1/2 years together. They were able to have many wonderful vacations together, including an Alaskan cruise and a Hawaiian cruise for their 25th anniversary. Terry was able to spend the last 3 years at their camper at Kochs Meadow Lake campground outside of Tipton, IA.

Outside of work, Terry found joy in reading, spending time with family, camping, and passionately supporting the Green Bay Packers, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Atlanta Braves. He was also a member of AmVets and the American Legion.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Tana Dolan, son Nathan Dolan, daughter Lisa (Roy) Shelton, grandson Trevor Lewis, granddaughter Kinsley Dolan, great-granddaughters Farrah and Faith Lewis, brothers Tom, Tim (Kathy), and Kevin (Connie) Dolan, sister Patty (Greg) Kapfer, sister-in-law Tamara (Roger) White, sister-in-law Shayla Milbrandt, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Mary (Burns) Dolan, sister Colleen (Dolan) Kimball, brother-in-law Dan Kimball, sister-in-law Pam (Hobbs) Dolan, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Donna Landis, nephews Ryan and Casey Dolan, and his best friend Tom Lint.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on July 14, 2024, at the American Legion in Marion, Iowa, located at 625 31st St., Marion, IA 52302, from noon to 4 pm. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Contributions in memory of Terry can be made to the family.

Terry Joseph Dolan will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
