Sylvia Jean Sherman

Hendersonville, NC. It is with great sadness that we share the news of the loss of our mother Jean. Sylvia “Jean” Sherman was born in Hendersonville, NC, on March 20, 1941, and has been a long-term member of First Baptist Church. Wife to James (Sandy) Sherman for 55 wonderful years.

Jean was a lover of life, art, and music. She always focused on the values of family, friends, and relationships. She always found the best in every situation. We will never forget her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and empathetic character. She always found a way to be a light in the darkness. Jean brought a great deal of happiness and joy to so many people throughout her life.

She always remained a beautiful soul that always had something kind to say to everyone as she lived in god’s grace.  For those who knew her, when you remember Jean, look back on the memories that bring you peace and joy. Hold those dear to you and closest to your heart, and remember life is fragile and should be lived each day to the fullest. We must be present each day and never lose sight of what we hold most dear. Look for the beauty in everyone, for not everyone can see it.

Jean was born in Henderson County, NC, on March 20, 1941, to the late Robert H. Capps and Sina Tankersley Capps. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James E. (Sandy) Sherman, and her siblings, Harris Capps, Gevi Capps, Carl Capps, Patsy Capps Covey, and Edward Capps; daughter-in-law Gayle Mason Sherman.

She is survived by children Vicki Sherman Nix of Hendersonville, NC, Nicholas Sherman of Charlotte, NC, Stephen, and wife Kimberly Sherman of Johns Creek, GA. By her grandchildren, Kyle Nix, Stephanie Nix Hoard and husband Joshua Hoard, Alexander Sherman, Taylor Sherman, Parker Sherman, Lauren Sherman, Jordan Sherman; brother-in-law, Leeman H. Covey.
