Susan R. McCleary Bain, 62, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on August 20, 2024. Visitation: 4-7 PM, Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Friday, September 6, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Private inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a future date.
Susan was born on March 16, 1962, in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Douglas and Norma Elaine (Herdlicka) Rodgers. She married Gregory A. McCleary on June 8, 1985, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 5, 1995. Susan found love again and was united in marriage to Steven James Bain on December 12, 2012, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a huge Iowa Hawkeye fan. Susan also enjoyed playing bingo and visiting the casino in Tama. First and foremost, she adored her grandchildren. Susan loved attending church and was a member of Trinity-St. James United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Steven of Cedar Rapids; son, Trenton McCleary of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Taryn McCleary of Cedar Rapids, special daughter, Kayla (Daniel) Schmidt of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Gregory W. McCleary, Cole Ries-McCleary, Ily Hayes, and Gauge McCleary; and brother, Phillip (Kristy) Rodgers of Millersburg.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Charles and Norma Rodgers; first husband, Gregory McCleary; brothers Charles and Jon Rodgers; and niece, Meagan Rodgers.
