Stanley Fred Anderson

Stanley Fred Anderson, age 90 of Yorkville, IL passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born on July 21, 1932 in Chicago, IL the son of Fred and Agnes (Johnsson) Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was united in marriage on June 18, 1955 to Sylvia Schoemann and they spent the next 68 years happily together. He attended Steinmetz High School in Chicago, IL and while there enrolled in the ROTC and continued to do so while attending the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL. A year after graduating, Stan enlisted in the United States Army, for 8 years, where he served both active and inactive reserve. By the time he was discharged in 1963, he had attained the rank of Captain.
Stan was very involved in the Boy Scouts of America, raising to the rank of Eagle Scout and also served as a Cubmaster and Scoutmaster. In 1973 he was presented with the Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service. Stan enjoyed fishing, coin collecting, gardening, watching his beloved Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Blackhawks and of course, Da Bears. But most of all, he loved his family above all else. When our grandchildren began gifting us with great-grandchildren, he cherished each and every one of them.
Stan is survived by his wife, Sylvia Anderson of Yorkville, IL; his children, Richard (Nicole) Anderson, Sandra (Chris), Robert (Jessica) Anderson, and Steve (Linda) Anderson; his grandchildren, Frank (Sara), Lisa (Bob), Jennifer (Paul), Jonathon (Laura), Samantha (Jay), Kelli (Matt), Robert (Danielle), Kevin (Kristie) Ethan, and Emma (Mallory): his great-grandchildren, Ella, Gabriella, Olivia, Alaina, Giavonna, Ellie, Will, Jimmy, Savannah, Kassandra, Jack, Troy and Sofia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Agnes Anderson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
