Spurgeon Massingale Jr.
- January 3, 2022
Spurgeon Massingale Jr, 71, of Mills River, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021. He was born in Transylvania County to the late Spurgeon Massingale and Bessie Dills Massingale.
After fighting a long hard fight, dad went home Christmas Morning. A gift for many to see in heaven. But God, we will miss him here on earth. My brother Zane will the first to meet him at those pearly gates with a 30.06 and a pair of camouflage coveralls.
He lived his life to the fullest. When he was younger, he loved to drink beer and spotlight deer. Killing more deer than most ever will. Those who knew him, knew what hunting deer meant to this man. He had an obsession for collecting coins and all his bookshelves with trinkets and “treasures”.
He loved his grandkids fiercely, and they cherished every story he would tell them about his childhood days along with some very tall tales. They loved their Pappy, and he knew it and They knew he loved them. My husband Cliff was more than a son in law, they were the best of friends.
He loved me, and I loved him more than he will ever know. He is survived by Boomer, Cliff, Toppy Nob, Froggy, and Poke Poke. Pappy was a legend, and he will be missed the rest of our lives. Good night, Dad, sleep tight don’t let the fleas bite, I love you.
Per his wishes no service will be held. Family and Friends are welcome to stop by the family residence, on Saturday the 8th of January between 3pm-6pm.
