Simone “Sam” Giannone

Simone “Sam” Giannone, 95, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at his home. He was born in Springfield to Leonardo and Grace (Zumo) Giannone. He married Ida Antonacci on June 28, 1947.

Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Ida; his parents; two brothers, Frank and Vincenzo (Vince); his sister, Mary Reed, and his dear friend, Mary Lou Disco.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Daniel) Blase; his grandchildren, Douglas and Nicole, who brought him so much joy; his brother, Leonard (Luann) Giannone; sisters-in-law, Jeannette Giannone, Irma (Michael) Montesano, and Esther Antonacci; brother-in-law, Robert Reed; and many nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

If Sam was not at work or with his family, you could find him at the golf course with the many friends he made while working at Pillsbury Mills. He was a member of St. Aloysius Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Private family services are being held.
