Sharon K. Norman, 71, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born September 28, 1949, in Springfield, the daughter of Vincent and Dorothy (Hanson) Oberreiter. She married John J. Norman on July 21, 1973 and he preceded her in death June 18, 2009.
Also preceding her in death are her parents; two sisters, Anne Green and Patsy Tisdale; two brothers, Walter and Orville Oberreiter; and brother-in-law, Jim Green.
Survivors include two daughters, Traci Norman and Tonya (Micah) Miller, both of Springfield; two granddaughters, Hailey and Tori; three sisters, Shirley (“Jeep” George) Pearce of Hilton Head, SC, Josephine Durham of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Janet (Bruce) Hayword of Lee’s Summit, MO; sister-in-law, Linda Oberreiter of Springfield; two brothers, Bruce (Dotti) Oberreiter of Springfield and Charles (Jean) Oberreiter of New Berlin; brother-in-law, Jim Tisdale of Jackson, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Sharon retired from the State of Illinois ISBE. She loved to cook, shop, go on walks, and travel. One of Sharon’s greatest joys was gardening. She enjoyed hanging out with her family and friends and loved spending time with her granddaughters.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Graveside Service: 1:00 pm, Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Pastor Cindy Lash officiating.
Sharon’s family kindly requests that all guests wear masks for the visitation and graveside service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Simmons Cancer Institute.
CDC protocol shall be followed.
