Sharon D. Foulks, 73, of Onslow, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa.

Sharon Dianne Carr was born on Aug. 28, 1949, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Harold and Mary (Ralston) Carr. She attended and graduated from Western Dubuque Schools in Epworth, Iowa. She married James William Foulks on Nov. 3, 1972, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Temple Hill. To this union, three daughters were born, Anita, Dianne and Linda. James preceded Sharon in death on Jan. 14, 2014. Sharon had been a resident of Onslow for 51 years.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Anita (Mac) Besler of Central City, Iowa, Dianne (Brandon) Rivas of Marion, Iowa, and Linda (Adam) Windschitl of Missouri Valley, Iowa. Sharon was a devoted grandmother to her seven grandchildren, Avary, Emery, Dante, Darius, Isabella, Caitlin and Audrey, who will miss her deeply. She is also survived by her brothers, Edward (Nancy) Carr of Koloa, Hawaii, and Allan (Carol) Carr of Monmouth, Iowa; and sisters, Dixie Bruns of Monmouth, Iowa, and Carla (Donald) Clark of Monmouth, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her siblings, Doug, Dale, Ronnie, Thomas, Jim, Jack, Jane, Marilee, Karen, Lois, Linda and Cathy.

Sharon enjoyed going to the casino with friends and family, scratching lottery tickets, singing karaoke and playing Bingo, Solitaire and Canasta. She had a competitive spirit and loved the thrill of a good game. She loved spending time at the campground, where she would often be found surrounded by loved ones, sharing stories and laughter.

Sharon’s baking skills were renowned within her family and friends. Her apple pies and Monster cookies were legendary, and she took great pleasure in baking for others. Her family will fondly remember her cookies and pies.

Friends and family may gather for a Remembrance Luncheon beginning at noon on Sept. 2, at Calkins Barn (lower level) in Wyoming, Iowa. There will be a private burial for family and close friends at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Temple Hill, Iowa. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.
