Sharon Ann Ciha, 79, of Mechanicsville, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Visitation will be from 9 – 10:45 a.m. with a Funeral Mass beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mount Vernon, Iowa. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Lisbon. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon.

Sharon was born on September 26, 1944, to Clara Rink Bader and Clarence Bader. The family homes were near Langworthy and Castle Grove. Sharon graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1962. She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids and worked for several years at Mercy Medical Center. Weary from chicken chores, picking up rocks and other farm work, Sharon vowed to never marry a farmer until she met Gary Ciha at the races in Monticello. They married July 10, 1965. For more than 41 years, they lived in rural Lisbon before moving to their new home in rural Mechanicsville. Sharon enjoyed NASCAR and Indy racing, traveling, card clubs and spending time with her family.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Gary; son Paul (Rita Swales) of Lisbon; grandson, Taylor Ciha (Jessee Fitzpatrick) of Mechanicsville; step-grandchildren, Miles Shultz (Jean Clipperton) of Evanston, Illinois, Hannah Shultz (AJ Finch) of Iowa City, and August Shultz (Callah Nelson) of New York, New York; step-great grandchildren, Arlo Shultz and Solomon Shultz; sister, Colleen Tobiason (Ken Brines) of Cedar Rapids; brother, Jeff Bader (Becky) of Anamosa; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southeast Linn Community Center or the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
