Sarah Julia “Sally” Hake, 91, of Palatine, was born December 2, 1929 in Chicago, IL to James and Marie (nee Tuke) Kearns. She passed away peacefully January 4, 2021.

A proud Chicagoan, Sally grew up on the North Side on Washtenaw Avenue with her parents, brothers, sisters, and beloved grandmother. She was the 5th of 6 children, and a proud graduate of St. Hilary grammar school, and St. Scholastica High School. She met the love of her life, John T. “Jack” Hake, on St. Patrick’s Day in 1948, and they were married on September 16th, 1950.

Sally was preceded in death by Jack, her husband of over 58 years, her parents, James and Marie Kearns, her brother, James, sisters, Patricia (Paul) Warrick, Mary (Bob) Richards, and Margaret “Joan” (Peter) Ciavarella.

Sally and Jack moved to Palatine in 1959, where she remained until the end of her life. They were founding members of St. Thomas of Villanova Church and school in Palatine and were devoted parishioners since 1961. Sally’s life was defined by her faith, family, and friends. She will be remembered for her deep faith, warm smile, and kindness to all. Humble and generous in all she did, she was also an amazing story-teller. She had a great memory, was a wonderful listener, and was full of wisdom and great advice.

Sally was a devoted mother and is survived by her 5 sons; Terry (Cathy), Bill (Jean), Tom (Ann), Brian (Kristen) and John (Julie); a cherished grandmother to Christine, Elizabeth, Tom (Amber), Michael (Erica), John (Katy), Joseph, Sarah (Phil) Triplett, Emily (Zach) Garner, Caroline, Patrick (Megan), Danny, Adelaide, Katie, Juliana, Mary Clare, and Madeline Hake; adored great-grandmother to Lucy, William, Declan, Evelyn, Adelaide, Tommy, Logan, and Thomas Kelly “TK.” Dearest sister of Bill (Mary Ann) Kearns.
