Ruth A. “Porky” Ledrich
- October 31, 2021
Ruth A. “Porky” Ledrich, 71, of Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, died October 29, 2021 in the Community Hospice Truman House. She was a survivor of cancer yet a fighter of diabetes and other illness that took her to her last battle where she traveled and joined her loving husband once again.
Born July 13, 1950 in Rawlings, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Gordon Sr. and Lily Mae (Davis) Flanagan.
Ruth married her young love, Barry J. Ledrich, on January 6, 1965.
She enjoyed time with so many, but loved time spent with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed morning coffee with her best friends of more than 45 years, to newer outings with retirement friends after working and retiring from Swiss Valley Oil in Sugarcreek after 12 years of service. She gave up time to work for Auntie Anne’s pretzels in New Philadelphia and Sugarcreek stores, also.
You would always find her helping with band competitions and sporting events and seeing her at all activities of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Along with a love for camping with friends and family, she loved a good road trip for shopping, casinos, and vacations with both friends and families along her journey.
She is survived by her children, Tammy Ledrich Cunningham and Alvin (Kim) Ledrich, both of New Philadelphia; her siblings, Carol (Dave) Cihon, Doc (Nancy) Flanagan, Bob (Connie) Flanagan, Gordon “Punk” (Dena) Flanagan, Jr., Linda Bates; brother and sisters-in-law, Sheila McCue, Cathy Ledrich, Jane Ledrich, John (Peggy) Ledrich, Holly Shonk; grandchildren, Tiffany (Jeff) Baranack, Greg (Heather) Cunningham, Kris (Cierra) Cunningham, Kyle (fiancé, Hope Gardner) Cunningham, Alyson (Bradley) Ritenour, and Danielle (Robert) Western; great-grandchildren, Bridget, Lorelei, Elliott, Coralie, Scarlet, Rosalie, Violett Baranack, Bradlee Ritenour, and Deacon Western; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in passing by her sister-in-law, Vivian Flanagan; parents-in-law, Alvin and Betty Ledrich; brothers-in-law, Timothy Ledrich, Robert Ledrich, Joseph Shonk, Samuel McCue; and her two great-granddaughters, Sophie Marie and Ellianna Marie Ritenour.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. with a service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park.
Memorial contributions in Ruth’s memory may be directed to the Ruth Ledrich Memorial Fund, c/o any Dover Phila Federal Credit Union.
