Russell Dean Voss, 72, of Tipton, passed away in the comfort of his home from complications of declining health. Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 11 a.m. with services conducted by Rev. Ronald Lashmit. Burial will follow in the Woodbridge Cemetery located a short distance from his home. A memorial fund in his memory has been established and may be sent to 1317 Harding Ave., Tipton, IA 52772. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Russell was born on Nov. 6, 1951, in Dennison, Iowa. He was the son of Leonard and Lois Schultz Voss. Russ graduated from North Linn High School in 1970 and Kirkwood College in 1971 with a degree in accounting. Russ was united in marriage to Teresa Cook on June 26, 1976, in the Methodist Church in Tipton.
Russ worked at Ray Farm Service for 20 years, Slach Farms for 28 years, worked for John Deere, and then started on his own on September 2012. Russ enjoyed taking family vacations, bowling (298 was his highest score), slow pitch, and he enjoyed watching the Hawkeyes, Packers and Dodgers. He liked playing competitive cards (Euchre), taking care of the lawn, and getting to all of his kids and grandkids sporting and livestock events.
Russ is survived by his wife, Teresa, their children, Malinda (Tom) Thimmes, Jason (Tarra) Voss and Stephanie (Bret) Musser; grandchildren, Meranda (Justin) Buck, Logan (Charli) Thimmes, Ethan Thimmes, Ashlyn Voss, Brayden Voss, Meredith Coppess, Natalie Coppess, Emersen Coppess, stepgrandson, Jax Musser and his great-grandson, Jarrett Buck, brothers and sisters; Arlyn (Bonnie) Voss, Richard Voss, Eileen (Chuck) Gruenwald, Terry (Sharyl) Voss, Janet (Bob) Collingwood, Brian (Annette) Voss and Mark (Lynette) Voss. Russ was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Lois Voss.
