Ronny F. Simpkins

Ronny F. Simpkins, age 84, of Big Rock, IL passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL.  He was born on August 27, 1939, in Aurora, IL the son of Jesse and Flora (Jonutz) Simpkins.

Ronny was united in marriage on November 23, 1963, to the love of his life, Sheila Rydquist and they spent the next 59 years happily together.  He was a heavy equipment operator with the Operating Engineers Union Local 150. He ended his long career with retiring from Aurora Blacktop. It was there that he made lifelong friends.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed nothing more than fishing with his family and friends.  He was a proud Veteran of The United States Army where he would cook for over 200 men. He always enjoyed cooking for his family, and it was instilled in his kids and grandkids the appreciation of good home cooked meals.  While his children were in school, he coached many of their sports teams. He was a big Chicago sports fan and would attend many Blackhawks games. He was the owner of a muscle car and loved to attend car shows with his wife Sheila.  Ronny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila of Big Rock, IL, his children, Rodney Simpkins of Lancaster, California. Jeff (Gloria) Simpkins of Hinckley, IL, and Stacy Simpkins of Big Rock, IL; his two grandchildren, Cristian Simpkins of Phillips, WI, and James Simpkins of Hinckley, IL, also several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Flora Simpkins, and his brother and sister, Jesse Simpkins, and Flora Houser.

A memorial service for Ronny is being planned for a later date.
