Ronald C. Michaelson

Ronald C. Michaelson, age 68 of both Surprise, AZ and Washington, IL formerly of Plano, IL passed away, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 25, 2022. He was born in Aurora, IL on June 15, 1953 the son of Arthur Gerald “Jerry” and Virginia (Swanson) Michaelson.

 

Ron was united in marriage on January 29, 1977 to Susan Stevenson and they spent the next 45 years happily together. Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

 

Ron retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in 2013 after 42 years of service.  He began his career as a wash tank operator in Montgomery, IL.  While working, raising a family, and serving as a Sunday School teacher and elder at Plano Bible Church, Ron earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Aurora University.  He was relocated to San Diego, CA and later Peoria, IL as an IT Manager.   In retirement, Ron devoted more time to his hobbies of woodworking and golfing.

 

Ron is survived by his wife, Sue Michaelson of Washington, IL; his five children, Laura (Shawn) Boyd of Cary, NC, Douglas (Stephanie) Michaelson of Waxhaw, NC, Thomas Michaelson of Sandwich, IL, Bethany (Victor) Mendez of Plano, IL and Katie (Michael) Long of Lakeside, CA; his nine grandchildren, Savannah, Donovan and Brooklyn Boyd, Sara, Jack and Leah Michaelson, Kane and Nico Mendez, and Ezekiel Long; his mother, Virginia Michaelson of Mountain Home, AR; his siblings, Brian Michaelson of Alma Center, WI and Trinette (Duane) Warren of Clermont, FL; also several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Michaelson; and his infant son, Jered Michaelson.

 

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 West South Street, Plano, IL. Interment will follow in the Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano, IL.

 

Friends may visit from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the Funeral Home in Plano, IL.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, AZ or the charity of your choice.
