Roger L. Hall

Roger L. Hall, “Chief” 87, of Hendersonville, NC, faced his “final deployment” May 30, 2021, Memorial Day weekend. He fought a long illness and passed away with family, at home.
Born in Odo, Iowa, he enlisted in the Navy in 1952 as a “seaman apprentice” and worked his way to the highest station that an enlisted person can attain, Flight Deck Chief Petty Officer. He served aboard aircraft carriers including the USS Forrestal, USS Saratoga and The LPH USS Guadalcanal during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was highly decorated during his Naval career including both the Vietnam Service Metal and Vietnam Campaign Metal. His last aircraft carrier when he retired in 1972 was the USS Hancock after 30 years of exemplary service. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jane, to whom he was truly devoted. He is also survived by 4 stepchildren and 13 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Blanche Hall and his 3 siblings.
He pursued many occupations after his naval retirement including a Postal Carrier, restaurant manager, real estate broker and most recently took a continuing education class in picture framing. He opened and maintained a successful framing business here in Hendersonville. He also was an avid golfer, always looking for the best clubs to improve his game.
Roger has been a long-time member of the Elks Club in Hendersonville. He developed many strong friendships through this association.
