Roger Dale Timm, 80, of Tipton, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023 after an extended illness. Roger was born in Iowa City, IA on Aug. 10, 1942, to Edward and Martha (Wehde) Timm. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1961 and married Mary Jane Martin in Stanwood, IA, on Feb. 11, 1962. Roger and Mary farmed together, owned and operated the R&M Bakery in Tipton for 23 years (with Roger working there for 35 years), then began Timm Construction until his full “retirement” (which actually never really happened!). Roger was passionate about serving his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather; his community as a 4-H leader and Tipton Community School Board member; and the church as a Sunday School teacher and church board president.
Roger is survived by his wife, Mary; their three sons, Ed (Stephanie) of Mount Vernon, Bob (Jorja) of Sheffield and Russell (Connie) of Rochester, IA; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren (with 2 more on the way); a brother, Richard (Peggy) Timm of Tipton; sisters-in-law Sharon Timm of Mechanicsville and Faith Timm of Bettendorf. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Donald, Harold, Walter and Joanne.
Friends and family will be greeted at South Bethel United Methodist Church at the Cedar County Historical Society & Museum, 1094 Hwy 38, Tipton, on Friday, May 5th at noon with a funeral service beginning at 2:00pm and fellowship time to follow. Private inurnment will be held later that afternoon. The family requests no flowers, however memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
