Rodd A. Emerson
Shellsburg
Rodd A. Emerson, age 59, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at his home in Shellsburg, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August, 17, 2023 at 3 pm. at Phillips Funeral Home Vinton. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family at 305 Windflower Lane Unit D Solon, IA 52333.
Rodd was born on Feb. 12, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Howard and Aileen (Evens) Emerson. He graduated from Shellsburg High School with the Class of 1982. Following graduation he started roofing and soon after began working construction with the Union until his retirement in 2019. Rodd was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting but truly loved being in the company of good friends. He was always an extremely hard worker who loved staying busy helping anyone, with any project, without being asked. You could find him bouncing around town, in the truck, always just keeping an eye on things. He truly enjoyed many of the simple things in life, a couple hours at the “shop” bantering back and forth with friends, a nice boat ride down the river with a cold beer, or a perfectly completed crossword puzzle.
He is survived by his two sons, Jordon (Kathleen) Emerson and Devon Emerson; siblings, Ronda Emerson and Rick (Paula) Emerson; nieces and nephews, Kelcey, Kayla (Jeremy), Brylee and Dakota; and great-nieces and -nephews, Lexie, Landon, Aubrey and Eli.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Reyne Emerson.
