Robert Wencil Blazek, age 87, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at his home.
Bob was born April 16, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, IA, the son of Frank and Philomenia (Mraz) Blazek. He married Geraldine Turner on May 31, 1958 in Cedar Rapids. Bob served our country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. In his younger years, he worked at Mays Drug and Collins Radio retiring from ADM. He then worked at Rochester Armory part-time. He enjoyed attending NASCAR in Daytona with his nephew Bob Brokaw. Bob’s hobby was trains and he also enjoyed putting puzzles together. He loved spending time with his family and his favorite dog, Mia.
Survivors include his three daughters, Debra Cooper of Marion, La Donna (Jim) Hackman of Solon and Colette (Todd) Miller of Marion; two sons, Jason (Kelly) Blazek of Mt. Vernon and Jeffrey Blazek of Marion; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; his sister, Arlene Brokaw of Orlando, FL and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Geraldine and son-in-law, Gary Cooper.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 1 – 3:00 pm at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, IA with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm. Inurnment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101
