Robert Lee “Bob” Dauber
- April 26, 2021
Robert Lee “Bob” Dauber, 81, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and buddy to many, passed away on Wednesday, April 21st, 2021 at home with his wife Linda and daughter Robin by his side.
Bob was born on July 24th, 1939 in El Dorado, KS to parents John and Marcet (Wallace) Dauber. He attended El Dorado High School and graduated from Kansas State College of Pittsburgh, PA with a degree in Biology/Physical Science.
He worked at Kansas University Medical Center as a researcher, then moved to Buffalo, NY for one year as a research assistant – he hated those cold, snowy winters! In 1965, he took a position with LTV Aerospace in Grand Prairie, TX (aka “The Bomber Plant”), where he worked for 30 years until he retired in 1995. For much of his adult life he lived in Arlington, TX, where he met and married Linda. He was a devoted golf nut and loved the Dallas Cowboys, often yelling at the TV when they didn’t play well. In 2005 he and Linda moved to Pecan Plantation in Granbury, TX to fully embrace retirement. There, for the last 16 years, he enjoyed playing golf, laughing with his many new friends, and feeding the fish and turtles in the pond with his grandkids at the 17th green.
Bob was lucky to have Linda, whom he adored, as his wife and life partner. Together they raised three children and cherished three grandchildren. He loved his family very much and was so grateful to be able to see many of them in the months before he passed away. He will be missed terribly by all who knew him; and will be remembered for his sense of humor, his cranky disposition, his fierce loyalty, and his no-nonsense, straightforward style.
Survivors include his wife Linda; his children Robin Schneider and husband John of Chicago, IL, Forrest Tierce and wife Alexandra of Mill Valley, CA, and Heather Salaz and husband Ernest of Austin, TX; his grandchildren Roman Salaz, Stella Salaz, and Sadie Schneider; his sister Darlene Dauber; and extended family in Kansas and California. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Darwin, James, and Duane Dauber.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Encompass Hospice, who helped him and his family through this transition. Memorial contributions may be made to Pecan Plantation VFD & EMS, Inc. A celebration of his life with family and friends will take place at a later date in Granbury, TX.
