Robert J. Ward Sr. was born February 9, 1943 in Thorp, Wisconsin to Edwin A. and Margaret E. (Fisher) Ward. He passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Aurora Burlington Medical Center.
Robert was married to Nell Terpstra on August 24, 1963. Robert was then drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam war and served in Panama. Upon returning to the states, Robert and Nell settled in Zenda, Wisconsin, where they raised two children.
Robert’s favorite pastimes were fishing, riding his motorcycle, woodworking, and helping others with his ability to fix pretty much anything. Robert and Nell enjoyed going to family events, attending their grandchildren’s performance, and helping anybody that needed a hand.
Robert is survived by his children Correna (Joe) Ksiazak and Robert (Cindy) Ward, Jr.; grandchildren Emily and Kyle; brothers Bill Ward and Kim (Shirley) Ward; sister Betty Harp; brother-in-law Rick Williamson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nell; his parents Edwin (Vida) Ward and Margaret (Francis) DeVoy; brothers Edwin (Etta) Ward, and Jack (Betty) Ward; sisters Jeanette Ward, Marietta Jean Williamson, and Audrey (Kenneth) Wells.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Toynton’s Walworth Funeral Home, 328 Kenosha St. from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Walworth Cemetery.
