Robert J. “Joe” Taylor

Robert J. “Joe” Taylor, 84, of Springfield, died on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital.  He was born September 24, 1936, in Springfield, to Robert D. and Mayme West Taylor.  He married Virginia Cater on July 4, 1958 and she survives.

Also surviving are three children, Robert “Joe” Taylor, Jr., Christine (Mark Cole) and Leann (Craig Drone); three grandchildren, April Taylor (JD Hopper), Mamie Cole (Dylan Hart) and Jeffrey Cole; two great grandchildren, LeAwna Hopper and Colin Hopper; one sister, Patricia Mayol and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Joan Schleyhahn, Roberta Pehlman and Susan Cardoni.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.  He loved fishing at the cabin on Matanza Beach in Havana, IL.

He owned his own company, Superior Dental Lab, for fifty-five years.

Memorial Gathering:  4–7 pm, Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
