Robert G. Rutkas, age 77 of Yorkville, IL passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021. He was born on May 18, 1943 in Chicago, IL the son of George and Grace Rutkas.
Robert grew up in Melrose Park, graduated from East Leyden High School and Elmhurst College. Robert was united in marriage on October 13, 1973 to Sandra. They lived happily together for 47 years in Glendale Heights and Yorkville. He was employed as a tool & die maker and department supervisor until his retirement. Bob loved playing his saxophone and was a member, for many years of the Yorkville Big Band. Computers and electronics were always one of Bob’s passions as well. Enjoying flying, he also obtained his private plane pilot’s license. Lastly, Bob also really got a lot of pleasure from his giant schnauzer dogs.
Robert was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Robert is survived by his wife, Sandra; his sons, Michael Rutkas and Clinton Rutkas; his four grandsons, Logan, Ryan, Miles and Lincoln Rutkas; his sister, Nancy de Veze; also a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Grace Rutkas.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at a later date.
