Robert “Buz” Dyer Hamilton, Jr., 79, of Hendersonville, NC passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021.
Buz was born on December 20, 1941, in Passaic, NJ to the late Robert Dyer Hamilton and Elizabeth Jane Wood Hamilton. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Elizabeth “Beth” and Virginia “Ginger” Russick, and his brother, David Hamilton.
After graduating from Montclair High School in Montclair, NJ, Buz studied Horticulture at Blue Ridge Community College. He worked at Record Rack in Upper Montclair, NJ, and also owned his own landscaping business for several years. He served in the US Army, spending two years in Germany.
Buz was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, NC. In addition to being skilled in electronics and radio and stereo repair, he was also interested in horticulture and watching documentaries. Buz loved history and participating in the annual Scottish Highland Games in Grandfather Mountain, NC and Stone Mountain, GA.
Buz is survived by his son, Richard “Rick” Russick of Oklahoma City, OK; his grandchildren, Robert Russick of Blanchard, OK, and Sullivan “Sully” Russick of Ardmore, OK; his brother, Edward “Ned” Hamilton of Sparta, NJ; and sisters, Deborah “Debbie” Guzowski of New Bern, NC, and Cynthia “Cindy” Hamilton of Tryon, NC.
A visitation will be held at Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, NC on Thursday, July 23, 2021 at 2:30 PM. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM with the Rev Johathan Christensen. The interment will be held at Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Upper Montclair, NJ at a later date.
