Robert “Bob” Lester Falcon, 98, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at his home in Marion, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Committal service with full military honors will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Mount Clark Cemetery in Central City. Memorial service will begin at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the funeral home, with Reverend Jeff Frohner officiating.

Bob was born on March 3, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Lester and Violet “Marie” (McCammon) Falcon. He attended Bunker Hill Single Room School before graduating from Central City High School in 1944. Bob later completed night school in Central City, utilizing the GI Bill. He served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. Bob

entered his military service on March 5, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa, and concluded his time in the service on March 5, 1947. He was stationed on the U.S. H. Dogwood Army Hospital Ship, then at Fort Sam Houston Brook Army Medical Center for one year. Bob took part in an Honor Flight on September 14, 2010, and was awarded the Quilt of Valor on June 10, 2017.

On March 28, 1948, Bob was united in marriage to Pauline L. Wetzel at the First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Together, they farmed for 16 years, raising purebred hogs, Charolais Cattle, purebred Short Horn Cattle, and Schipperke purebred dogs. He worked 26 years as a Postmaster in Central City after being appointed by President Kennedy. In retirement, the couple lived on their farm and wintered in Florida for 16 years, and enjoyed going on many cruises. After 47 years on the farm, they moved to Marion in 1995.

Bob was a member of the Kiwanis, the United Church of Christ of Central City, since birth, where he served as church secretary and sang in the choir for many years; the Central City American Legion, Former Postmasters Organization, National Association Retired Federal Employees, and the Central City Historical Society. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bob is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 76 years, Pauline Falcon of Marion; daughter, Deborah “Debby” (Robert) Clark of Frisco, Texas; granddaughters, Emily Falcon Clark of Frisco, and Abigail (Frank) Giunta of Prosper, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Avery Rose Giunta and Hudson Clark Giunta.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Aaron Robert Falcon; and brother, Donald Falcon.
