Robert “Bob” Eugene Ritter

Robert “Bob” Eugene Ritter, 92, of Springfield, passed away at 5:25 pm, Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at his home. He was born on January 20, 1930 in Springfield, the son of Elmer and Hattie (Myers) Ritter. He married Jane Thomas on December 18, 1954 and she preceded him in death on August 23, 2021.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Jane Ann Schuster; two sisters, Margaret Brown and Helen Hambuch, and one brother, George Ritter.

Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer (John P.) Yacup of Villa Rica, GA; one son, Thomas (Christina) Ritter of Springfield; seven grandchildren, John R. (Sara) Yacup, Jeffrey (fiancée Andressa) Yacup, James Yacup, Robert E. Ritter, Emma June Schuster, Eli Schuster, and Ethan Schuster; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana.

Robert was a partner with Pehlman & Dold PC and retired after 38 years of service as a CPA. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Visitation: 9 – 10:45 am, Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Busboom and Pastor Linda Strader officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
