Survivors include his wife of 63 years, LeAnn, 2 sons, Al of Hiawatha, Iowa, and Tim (Suzi) of Marion, Iowa, and granddaughter Courtney. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond H. Sr. and Marie Carstensen, and siblings Delphine Braase, Norma Smith, Raymond H. Jr., and Vernon.

Bob was born on August 11, 1935, in Denison, Iowa, the son of Raymond H. Sr. and Marie (Berndt) Carstensen. He graduated from Denison High School in 1953. He married LeAnn Longlee on December 17, 1960, in Soldier, Iowa. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force he went to work for Stewart-Warner Alemite in Omaha, selling automotive lubrication dispensing equipment until getting hired by Ottsen Oil Company in Cedar Rapids as a salesman. He went on to buy the company in 1974 and proudly grew it to one of the largest distributors in Iowa. He sold Ottsen Oil to Tim in 1997 and they retired to Estero, Florida. Bob’s biggest joy was spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Courtney. She was the joy of his life. He was an avid golfer achieving 6 hole-in-ones in his life (only to be bested by LeAnn who had 7!) and an incredible putter. He enjoyed his memberships at Elmcrest Country Club (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and Wildcat Run Golf Course (Estero, Florida) where he made life-long friendships. He also enjoyed pheasant hunting and fishing. Please leave a message for the family on our website www.cedarmemorial.com under obituaries.
