Robert “Bob” Burtis, 93, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away, on February 1, 2024, at the Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha. Rosary: 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 8, 2024, with visitation from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 9, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with Father Aaron Junge officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Bob was born November 29, 1930, in Cedar Rapids,
Iowa, son of Edmund and Marie (Elbert) Burtis. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1948 in Mason City, Iowa, and enlisted in the Navy in 1949 where he was honorably discharged in 1956. He married Barbara Rothamel on January 16, 1954. Bob worked as a meat cutter for Eagle Supermarket until they closed in 2003.
Bob was a devoted member to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he volunteered his time as a reader for daily Mass and various volunteer work. He enjoyed fishing and watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Chicago Bears.
Bob is survived by his children, Karen Issa, Craig Burtis, and David (Jenny) Burtis; grandchildren, Leila Issa, Deana Issa, Aliyah Burtis, Meghan Burtis, Mahmoud Issa, and Zachariah Issa; and great-grandchildren, Selena Shehadeh, Eliana Shehadeh, Daniella Khallouf, Sophia Dyab, Juliet Dyab, Adam Issa, and Ameer Issa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barbara Burtis; and sons, Colin Burtis and Brian Burtis.
Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
